Théâtre de la Bastille, located at 76 rue de la Roquette, made its program devoted entirely to the contemporary theatre and the contemporary dance.
The building was originally a small variety theatre, and then in 1912, while rooms have multiplied, it followed fashion and became a cinema known as ‘Cyrano Roquette.’
Its exploitation as a cinema ended in 1969, when it returned to its original destination, first as the Theatre de la Roquette, then, the “obliquely Theatre”, and finally, in 1982, the Theatre de la Bastille.
