The Musée Hébert is located in the Hôtel de Montmorency-Bours, the former home of academic painter Ernest Hébert. It contains collections of Hébert’s work, furniture, decorative items, souvenirs, and photographs, set within rooms almost unchanged since the artist died. The museum has been closed for renovations since 2004.
After Hébert’s adopted son’s death in 1974, the building became a state property and was opened as a museum ten years later. Since 2004, the museum has been affiliated with the Musée d’Orsay, and indefinitely closed for renovations.
