Musée de l’Institut du Monde Arabe is subordinate to the Institut du Monde Arabe. After a thorough redesigning, it showcases not only Arabic art, but also the cultural, ethnic, linguistic and social diversity of the Arabic world. The museum prides itself on its impressive collection, as well as on being modern and interdisciplinary.
The Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) is an organisation founded in Paris in 1980 by Arab countries and France to research information about the Arab world and its cultural values and to promote cooperation between France and the Arab nations, particularly in science and technology. Today, 22 Arab countries participate in the programme.
The IMA is housed in an impressive building designed by Jean Nouvel and constructed from 1981 to 1987. With its floor space of 16,894 square metres, the edifice proved both efficient and aesthetically pleasing. You can enjoy a great view of the Notre Dame and the Seine from the roof terrace while ordering a meal at Le Zyriab, a Lebanese restaurant.
