Badylak’s Well is a memorial made on the top of one of the three mediaeval wells located on the Main Square. It commemorates Walenty Badylak, a Home Army soldier who chained himself to it and set himself on fire on March 21, 1980. His self-immolation was a form of protest against communist authorities concealing the Katyń massacre. The commemorating plaque was unveiled on the 10th anniversary of this act.
The plaque commemorating Walenty Badylak was unveiled by his grandson, Father Wojciech Badylak.
