Le Mur is a contemporary urban-art spot, as well as the initial spot of the whole street art movement in Paris. In 2007 the City Council gave the Le Mur association the billboard, thus transforming the space into a place of experimental art; since its inception it has exhibited the works of over 80 artists.
The wall was set aside by the City Council with the purpose of promoting contemporary art, and urban art in particular. Different artist propel up their colours and creativity there every two weeks; the new work is connected to the previous one, thus preserving the principle of ephemeral street art while retaining the history. The creation of the poster is a kind of a performance that all who come to the opening may witness.
