La Maison Rouge is an art gallery dedicated to contemporary works presented by independent curators in a renovated industrial setting. It is divided into four exhibition areas of 1,300 square metres around the red house whose namesake the gallery is. The gallery houses three to six exhibitions a year in regular cycles.
Founded in 2000 by Antoine de Galbert, the gallery attempts to both showcase the latest trends in contemporary art and provide an environment that supports creative process and artistic pursuits. This is the purpose behind some of the projects undertaken at La Maison Rouge: the glass patio where young artists can present their work, the suite, and the vestibule. The gallery holds talks, meetings with artists or curators, concerts and film viewings. It also organises some activities for children. Recently La Maison Rouge has embarked on a project with Rose Bakery: they will operate a pop-up restaurant.
