Gare Saint-Lazare is the second busiest train station in Paris, handling 450,000 passengers each day. Its history goes back to a 19th-century wooden station, but the current building was designed by the architect and engineer Alfred A.E. Flachat and erected between 1842 and 1853. The station has recently been subject to extensive renovations.
