A gem of Krakow’s Art Nouveau, the Czynciel tenement was erected between 1907 and 1908 according to a design by Rajmund Meus and Ludwik Wojtyczko in place of a demolished, mediaeval building. The Czynciel tenement used to house one of the first department stores in town. Stanisław Wyspiański wrote his most famous play – “The Wedding” – in the building that preceded this one.
