The Museum of PRL (People’s Republic of Poland), which was opened relatively recently, in 2008, is devoted to documenting the communist period of post-war history of the country under the pro-Soviet government. Besides the interactive permanent exhibition, the museum also holds frequent cultural and educational events, such as workshops for children.
The museum was established as a division of the Warsaw Museum of Polish History, and is located at a former cinema owned by the state, called Światowid.
The collection of the museum includes numerous objects dating from communist Poland, such as items of everyday use, announcements, prints, photographs, radio and TV recordings, and films – both fiction and documentary.
