General Information

The Manufacture Nationale des Gobelins is a tapestry factory. Named after the family of its founders – Gobelins, who had moved their dye-works to Paris in the 15th century, the manufacture they established enjoyed royal patronage in the 17th and 18th century, and after a few setbacks, it continues to operate as a state-run institution.
